'New Year, New Me'...

We are so used to hearing this expression come this time of year when we are nearing the end. With the promise of a new year in sight and a feeling of a fresh start and new beginnings, it’s easy to want to do away with the ‘negativity and failings’ from the year gone by and instead, feel more hopeful by looking forward to a better one ahead. Stop. Pause. Reflect. In this moment is an opportunity for reflection and rebalance.

A friend once shared with me the importance of Achievement Lists, taking the time to still and consider what has gone well and what you have been able to successfully action in your life. The practice of reflecting and writing out an Achievement List can be so powerful; it helps to shift our perspective and focus, realising what we have been able to do. This is a great and wonderful thing to be celebrated and shouldn’t be overlooked. I think that whilst this is a good time of year to make ‘New Year’s resolutions’ and set goals, it is also beneficial to balance this with reflections on what has gone well.

On the top of my list for this year is starting this blog. What’s on yours?… As a gift idea, a notebook and pen could be a lovely way for you to share this practice with another, encouraging them to write their own achievement list, whether that be as a daily practice or as a routine check in.

I hope you feel hopeful for the year ahead and also happy for anything you may have achieved in this one.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

With love and in kindness,
Holley Clare xx
