Last night I was blessed to enjoy one of the funniest evenings I have had in what feels like too long. Filled with laughter and smiles, it was a time for friends coming together and reconnecting, enjoying delicious food, playing games and generally being silly…Prosecco was of course on the menu too! It was agreed by all that it was just the medicine we needed and without hesitation, the next date was already in our diaries… Following on from my last post about friendship, this passion pitch stays on trend and shares the value of being connected to people in our lives who bring us joy. It is such a special gift and feel good factor for the soul. Humour is personal and unique to each of us so take a little time to identify who and what makes you laugh and bring this into in your life as part of routine practice but also in times of need. Ideas for this could be watching comedy (tv or films), going to a comedy club or seeing a comedian on tour, reading joke books… a personal favourite of mine is to watch Michael McIntyre’s ‘Send To All’. The simple act of laughing has a profound impact on us; it causes the body to release chemicals called endorphins which have a positive effect on the brain and body. The science of it means it is good for our immune systems and can counteract stress. Remember, laughing is infectious and the beauty of it is universal. Also, learn to laugh at yourself and not take life so seriously! It might just be the medicine you need…
